Wairarapa farmers got stuck into a day of challenges and camaraderie during the Young Farmers competition on Saturday at Taratahi Agricultural College.

The competitors were challenged with 11 modules that incorporated interviews, agronomy, budgeting, tractor skills, dairy, fencing, gut buster, motorbikes, sheep and feeds.

The winner of the Young Farmers competition was Isaac Kelson from South Wairarapa Club. The runner-up was Bernie Cox from the South Wairarapa Club while Stephen Robinson from the Wairarapa Club and Richard Cameron from the South Wairarapa Club finished in third and fourth place respectively.

The organisers thanked the judges who volunteered their time to adjudicate on the day.

The two top competitors will go through to the regional finals next year.
