CASSANDRA the soothsayer, aka Julie Berry, has frightened the life out of gladiator Littilus Wimpus (Danny Clenott,) the unlikely hero in Masterton Amateur Theatrical Society's end-of-year production Rome Sweet Rome. Produced by Nigella Cameron, with script and music compiled by Colin Denby and a cast of more than 30, Rome Sweet Rome is a complete send-up from beginning to end. Cameron says "it's a mind-blowing pot pourri" of characters with gladiators, temple maidens, Cupid, a crooner, Boadicea and her punk daughters and a US marshal all in the mix. The musical director is Peter Totman. Last night was the dress rehearsal and the season runs from tomorrow night until December 4.
