The second Moki $1000 Fishing Competition will be held at Ngawi, on the Palliser coast on the weekend and organisers are hopeful some good blue moki will be hooked.

The competition was organised by Feilding Surfcasting Club, in conjunction with the New Zealand National Amateur Surfcasting Association.

Last year's winning entry was a fish landed by Masterton's Peter Farmer in Ngawi Bay, and weighed slightly more than 2kg.

President Brian Snaith said the competition would be similar to the first event, but with more prizes and hopefully better weather. He said the weather played a big part with moki. "The weather for this year is looking quite good."
