Wanted persons on the web

Central District police launched a Wanted Persons webpage this week, featuring 20 people, one of whom is thought to be in Masterton.

The site has a section covering people who are wanted on criminal charges and another for people who police want to identify.

It includes the greater Wellington region and Wairarapa.

Central District intelligence manager, Inspector Peter Thurston, said the site was a practical tool that could reach a range of audiences. "It's another channel involving the public that helps us fight crime in our communities."

Only people who were needed urgently, or could not be contacted by any other means, would appear on the site.

Visit www.police.govt.nz/wanteds to see the list.

If you have information regarding any of the people on the page contact your local police station, or send an email to centralwanteds@police.govt.nz

Information can also be provided anonymously through Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
