Vandals who caused $1200 damage to windows at the Masterton District Council building on Tuesday night may have struck elsewhere in the town.

In the latest incident, windows had to be replaced on the Chapel St side of the building yesterday after graffiti was scratched on to the glass, council chief executive Wes ten Hove said.

"We understand the police have linked the incident to some other damage in the town recently," he said.

It's not know where the other incident occurred.

Masterton Mayor Garry Daniell said yesterday he was disappointed to hear about the vandalism.

Graffiti vandalism and litter were detrimental to any community, he said.

Masterton police said they were continuing with inquiries into the incident.
