Two vehicles collided at the Norfolk Rd-Cornwall Rd intersection of State Highway 2 yesterday evening, with two occupants from one vehicle taken to Masterton Hospital.

Police, fire service and Wellington Free Ambulance crews attended the scene of the collision about 5.30pm. The occupants of both vehicles were from the Masterton area.

The crash occurred when a Toyota Hilux, which was turning out of Cornwall Rd, collided with a small hatchback car which was heading south on SH2.

Senior Constable Kerry Fitzgerald said it appeared the driver of the white Hilux thought the way was clear before turning on to the state highway.

Two female occupants of the hatchback were taken to hospital as a precautionary measure, Mr Fitzgerald said.

None of the four people in the Hilux received injuries.

Mr Fitzgerald said all were wearing seatbelts.
