Two festivals on next year

Masterton is getting two wine and food festivals next year.

First out of the blocks will be a festival at the Whittaker's Wings Over Wairarapa 2005 which will take place at Hood Aerodrome, on January 22 and 23.

The next month the Masterton A and P show will stage their boutique wine and food festival on the Sunday of their show weekend.

January's Whittaker's Wings Over Wairarapa Air Show will feature wine producers including, Solstone Winery, Opaki Lodge Wines, Loopline Vineyard, Fairmont Estate, Gladstone Vineyard, Waipipi Vineyard and Borthwick Vineyard, Liz Pollock, the airshow's event manager, said.

Holding the food and wine festival in conjunction with the airshow will ensure there is something for everyone at next year's event.

"We want those attending to enjoy two full days of entertainment both in the skies and on the ground," she said.

The Masterton A and P Show will also be introducing wine and food for the first time.

Show executive officer Ally O'Neill said the show on February 18 to 20 would also feature produce from Loopline, Solstone, Gladstone and Waipipi vineyards.

As well as all the traditional features of the A and P show, other entertainment being organised will include a Sheep-n-Show act and two new equestrian acts ? Kaimanawa horses and a leisure class for the "not so serious rider".
