A MASTERTON man, 24, was arrested for drink-driving after he was caught doing burnouts outside a house on Vivian Street, in Masterton, in the early hours of Sunday.
The man had been arrested earlier in the evening for assaulting a female, and had gone on to consume more alcohol and get behind the wheel of a car. The vehicle the man was driving hit a kerb and incurred minor damage.
Police said there had been many reports of burnouts and reckless driving around the time of the drag races at Masterton's Hood Aerodrome at the weekend.
A woman, 18, has been charged after she lost control of a borrowed vehicle and smashed into a parked car on the grounds at the drag races. She will appear in Masterton court on related charges.
The vehicle was subsequently impounded by police.
