Martinborough vineyard Burnt Spur has won a trophy at the annual Air New Zealand wine awards for its Pinot Gris 2004.
According to business manager Janine Tulloch, it was the second time Burnt Spur had success at the awards, picking up a gold medal for their Pinot Noir in 2001.
It was just the second year Burnt Spur had produced a Pinot Gris, she said.
Ten cases of the vineyard's total Pinot Gris 2004 output of 400 cases would be available for tasting at Toast Martinbourgh this weekend.
There was success at the show too for Gladstone vineyard Fairmont Estate for their Block One 2003 Pinot Noir.
Fairmont Estate winemaker Jon McNab said the award follows a gold medal in the Liquorland Top 100 for the same wine.
Saturday's Air New Zealand awards were dominated by Villa Maria, which won nearly half the trophies, and by Marlborough growers.
Champion wine of the show was Villa Maria's Pinot Noir.
