Red Star have opened up a commanding lead in the Wairarapa Cricket Association's Bidwill Cup senior men's two-day competition.

Their outright win over Newbolds Marist Old Boys in the latest series of matches took less than one full day's play and took them to 94 on the points table.

Turkey Red Greytown leapfrogged Flight Centre Lansdowne into second place after they picked up maximum points in their fixture which drew to a close on Saturday.

Chasing Lansdowne's 153, Greytown took a healthy first innings lead when they replied with 242, of which Wairarapa opener Tim Lucas made 52.

Hayden Barrett claimed 4-19 bowling for Lansdowne.

The Lansdowne second innings was a disaster. They were all out for a paltry 62 with medium pacer Quintin McKenna producing excellent figures of 8-28 for Greytown, who won by an innings and 27 runs.

The other Bidwill Cup match completed on Saturday saw AI Homes Kuranui Old Boys take maximum points off Wairarapa College. The students trailed by 116 runs on the first innings and left Kuranui Old Boys just 19 runs to score for the outright victory when they were all out for 134 in their second innings. Kuranui Old Boys reached their target without loss to win by 10 wickets.

Bidwill Cup points are: Red Star 94, Greytown 63, Lansdowne 59, Wairarapa College 37, Kuranui Old Boys 36 and Marist Old Boys 13.
