Rubbish fire out of control

Firefighters doused a rubbish fire that blazed out of control at the Waingawa industrial park on Tuesday afternoon.

Murray Dunbar, fire communications shift supervisor, said the blaze had reportedly ignited a small area of scrub shortly before 2.30pm. It is understood an old rubbish fire had re-ignited at the site and had become uncontrollable.
