Pulse just pipped by Fever

Netball

The Invitational Haier Pulse netball team have finished runners-up at the World Premier Club Challenge tournament in Scotland, losing to the West Coast Fever from Australia 53-47 in the final.

The last time these two teams met in the 2012 ANZ Championship, the Fever had come from behind to beat the Pulse by just two goals, and the same tense atmosphere was evident again as the two sides went goal for goal through much of the game.

It was only in the last quarter that the Fever opened up a sizeable lead and, while Pulse finished strongly, they could not bridge the gap.

Pulse won five of their six games at the tourney and midcourter Liana Leota was named player of the tournament.

Also featuring prominently was Claire Kersten, whose parents Willy and Ali live in Masterton.
