Calling all artists: White Pages wants your work for the 2005 Wairarapa White Pages Art Award.

Formerly known as the Yellow Pages Arts Scholarship, the White Pages Art Awards is one of New Zealand's most significant art competitions, awarding a total $63,000 to 18 emerging and established artists throughout New Zealand each year.

The winning works will appear on the covers of the 2005 editions of the White Pages.

"With copies of the White Pages distributed to more than 49,000 Wairarapa homes and businesses, winning a White Pages Art Award means an artist's work becomes an icon throughout their home region," general manager Roger Shipp said.

The winner receives a cash prize of $3500, and gains valuable exposure from their profile in the introductory page of the White Pages and by having their work hosted online at www.whitepagesarts.co.nz

"In 2004 we received more than 1500 artworks nationwide, up 28 per cent on the previous year, and our independent judges say the quality of artworks submitted has risen," Mr Shipp said.
