Elizabeth Perry, winner of the Senior Sports Personality of the Year trophy at last night's Wairarapa sports awards, is congratulated by guest speaker Don Tricker, coach of the world-championship winning Black Sox men's softball team.
Just last month Perry had also been the big winner at the Wairarapa secondary schools sports awards, winning both the Sportswoman of the Year and the Sportsperson of the Year trophies there.
Perry, 16, has fashioned a superb record in both hockey and cricket. Her hockey credits include selection in the New Zealand under-21 women's side to play Australia this month. In cricket Perry has played for Central Districts and Wairarapa at senior level, as well as being included in a national development squad.

Other trophy winners at the awards, sponsored by the Wairarapa Times-Age, were Administrator of the Year Loraine Somerville and Team of the Year, the Wairarapa-Bush rugby NPC third division rugby side.
