What was generally expected to be a close tussle turned out to be anything but when Opaki beat Masterton 8-1 in their Wairarapa regional one tennis fixture on Saturday.

The end result wasn't any great surprise though as Masterton took to the courts without three of their leading players, Luke and Georgia Atkinson and Chad Parsons, and Opaki became firm favourites as a consequence.

The singles saw Stu Wyeth, Brett Dymond, Chris Davidson, Ben Campbell and Katie Wyeth all do the business in straight sets for Opaki while the sole Masterton success came from Zoe Paris.

For Campbell it was a brief break from his busy schedule on the professional golfing circuit and he completed a successful day out when he and Katie Wyeth combined for a comfortable mixed doubles win. Also successful for Opaki in that section were Dymond and Rebecca Perry while the sole men's doubles match played was a triumph for Stu Wyeth and Davidson.
