The public is being invited to attend a Creative Forum to have their say on developing arts, culture and heritage strategy for the Wairarapa region.
The region's three district councils have been joined by Aratoi and Te Papa National Services, Te Paerangi, to develop the strategy and this group is now calling on members of the public to offer input on the direction of the strategy.
"This forum is an opportunity for the region to develop a combined vision for the future of the sector, and to identify some practical steps to be taken," says the Masterton District Council's community services manager, Jan Gerritsen.
"It is important that the strategies belong to the communities, in partnership with the councils. We want the arts, culture and heritage sectors in Wairarapa to identify what should happen to make sure they flourish," Mrs Gerritsen said.
Two public creative forums will take place in Wairarapa on Wednesday, December 1. The first will be held at the Greytown Town Hall from 9.30am until 12.30pm, and the second at the Masterton Town Hall from 7pm to 9.30pm.
At the conclusion of the forums, a draft strategy will be developed and circulated for public comment early next year.
Funding has already been committed to the development of the strategy by the Masterton District Council and Te Papa National Services, and an outside facilitator has been engaged.
l If you would like to make a written comment before or after the meetings, please send them to Jan Gerritsen at Masterton District Council, or Julie Hallam at Carterton.
