Pushing the Gamble-free Day message in Masterton yesterday was Wendy Woodhouse. She paraded a pokie machine around town on behalf of Wairarapa Addiction Services.
Problem gamblers in Wairarapa had no excuse for not getting the message yesterday as a pokie machine made its way through town courtesy of Wairarapa Addiction Services.
Pushing the message was Wendy Woodhouse of Gambling Help, who said people whose lives were affected by gambling, but who had turned things around, are seen by the addiction service every day.
She said those still hooked on gambling could feel worried, or ashamed, and be unsure of a way out of their problem.
Mrs Woodhouse said the first step was to ask for help either from a spouse or partner, family, friends or by contacting Gambling Help on (06) 377 3156.
