The community turned out in force to the Mauriceville School Pet Day held recently, with a variety of pets and children's work on show.

Principal Rebecca Stevens said the annual event was a bit different this year as the school only had two farming families.

Although the champion lamb cup was still on offer, many of the pets included chickens, budgies, rabbits and dogs.

The children also had a variety of work on show such as computer-generated images and vegetable creations.

"The kids just worked really hard and did good quality work this year. It was awesome," she said. Mauriceville School has 29 pupils and each child had a parent or adult present on the day.
