Four go to hospital after car crash

Four people were taken to Wairarapa Hospital after a driver lost control of his vehicle at a pedestrian crossing in Lansdowne on Saturday, police say.

The driver crashed into the pedestrian crossing pole about 6.15pm.

Four people in the car received minor to moderate injuries and were taken to hospital for treatment.

Senior Sergeant Warwick Burr of Masterton police said it was believed the driver had been out fishing all day and fell asleep at the wheel.

He has been charged with careless driving causing injury and also with driving while forbidden.
