Tennis

The Shoe Clinic parent-child tournament played at the Masterton Tennis Centre on Sunday was a huge success with a hectic programme of 47 games completed on schedule.

The finals of all age groups made for some entertaining fare, none more so than the 12-year and under decider which saw the Atkinsons taking on the Kerrs. At one stage, the two Kerrs ended up on the same side of the court with son Liam losing his footing but a high lob by Luke Atkinson gave them time to continue the rally.

The Atkinsons took the point but the incident highlighted the great sportsmanship at the event.
