Egg attack on band angers

The egg attack on the Masterton District Brass Band in Carterton at the weekend has struck a sour note with band president George Groombridge.

People just don't appreciate the dedication of the band members who give up hours of their own time to practice and perform for the people of Wairarapa, he said.

On the day of the attack the band had spent the morning performing at the opening of the new rec-centre in Masterton before heading south for the Carterton Christmas parade.

Young cornet player Kathryn Babbington was hit by an egg thrown by a mystery assailant in the crowd.

"It's a very poor show," Mr Groombridge said.
