 A teenager who allegedly sprayed a Castlepoint holiday home with his blood after cutting himself when he smashed his way in through a window was treated in hospital.

Senior Sergeant Warwick Burr said the man, 19, had been at a party in the settlement and had smashed a window in the Jetty Rd holiday home about 2.43am Sunday.

Mr Burr said the man was severely cut by the glass and sprayed blood over curtains, walls, carpet and furnishings in the unoccupied house.

He was treated for the severe wound at Wairarapa Hospital and transferred to Lower Hutt Hospital.

Police are investigating the incident and charges may follow.
