Wairarapa finished a creditable fourth in pool play in the men's competition at the national intercentre bowls championships played in Auckland over the weekend.
They secured seven wins to finish on 14 points, behind Nelson (23), Southland (18) and North Harbour (17).
Singles: Ian Monaghan lost to Nelson 11-25, beat North Harbour 25-21, beat Wanganui 25-23, beat Counties Manukau 25-20, lost to Southland 8-25.
Pairs: Les O'Donovan and Warren Fisher lost to Wanganui 15-19, beat Counties Manukau 19-11, lost to Southland 13-18, lost to Nelson 16-17, lost to North Harbour 17-21.
Fours: John Claydon, Graeme Tindall, Richard Anderson and Scott MacKenzie beat Southland 18-11, lost to Nelson 16-24, lost to North Harbour 14-23, beat Wanganui 16-5 and beat Counties Manukau 16-10.
The women's section saw Wairarapa trail the field home in their pool.
They finished with 7 points and ahead of them were Hawke's Bay (28), Counties Manukau (18), Marlborough (14), South Otago (14) and Thames Valley (9).
Singles: Judith Wyeth beat Thames Valley 25-8, lost to Counties Manukau 14-25, beat Hawke's Bay 25-16, lost to Marlborough 17-25, beat South Otago 25-20.
Pairs: Makaia Campbell and Wendy Mitchell lost to Hawke's Bay 10-24, lost to Marlborough 17-23, lost to South Otago 11-17, lost to Thames Valley 10-27, lost to Counties Manukau 10-16.
Fours: Avis Cooper, Jean Paku, Teresa Hogg and Dorothy Christensen lost to South Otago 12-14, drew with Thames Valley 11-11. lost to Counties Manukau 10-12, lost to Hawke's Bay 14-16, lost to Marlborough 9-16.
Dunedin won the men's title and Canterbury the women's.
