Country and brass hits perfect note
The Masterton District Brass Band were given a standing ovation when they performed with international country musicians last weekend.
Delaney Davidson and Marlon Williams finished their New Zealand tour with their debut co-operative album, Sad But True, at Aratoi Museum of Art and History on Sunday.
The brass band were invited to play a set as part of the show by the organisers, Up With People, who wanted something different.
"We couldn't have had anything more different than country music matched up with a brass band," said Mark Rogers. "We knew it would work - the brass band were absolutely fantastic."
Mr Rogers said Hine E Hine was performed by the brass band and the duo: "There were people shedding tears in the audience which was pretty cool."
The duo were brought back to town because of demand, he said.
