Wairarapa football referees can look back on a successful 2012 season with increased numbers ensuring wide coverage of games ranging from Central League and Capital League to the Wairarapa championship, as well as some college games.

David Gates was voted by clubs participating in the local league as the best referee in that grade, while Tim Gordon won the J Redwood Trophy for best junior referee and Steve Sale the Pedro Molina Trophy for most dedicated referee.

Gordon and Sale were also nominated for trophies covering the whole of the Federation 5 area, which takes in Wellington, Wairarapa and Horowhenua-Kapiti.

Gordon was awarded the federation's Len Pellowe Memorial Trophy for most promising youth referee and Sale the Fitzsimons Trophy for the referee who showed the most dedication to the game.
