Atkinson shows style in two finals matches

Wairarapa ace Sade Atkinson won the girls' doubles title and was runner-up in the singles at the national 16 years tennis championships, played at Ashburton last weekend.

Atkinson combined with Aucklander Kelly Drew to take out the doubles. They played against each other in the singles final.

Drew took the first set 6-4 but Atkinson, who was top seed, was not to be undone and struck back to take the second by the same scoreline. In the third and deciding set, Drew edged ahead to win, again by 6-4.
