The Masterton Christmas parade was a big hit on Saturday with crowds lining Queen Street to watch. As well as the man in the red suit, there was something for everyone, with everything from clowns on unicycles, to cartoon character Spongebob Squarepants, leisure marchers and brass bands in the Classic Hits-sponsored event.

RIGHT: EMMA Balzek, left, and Jenna Parlane keep a close eye on a mean-looking shark that formed part of the Mitre 10-sponsored float Finding Nemo. Another Mitre 10 float, Spongebob Squarepants, was judged best float in the parade.
l An article on Friday incorrectly said the Christmas parade was partly council funded. The three major sponsors are Classic Hits, Mitre 10 and Trust House.
