Access meeting planned

A public meeting to discuss the contentious issues of property rights and public access is being held in Masterton this month.

The meeting has been organised by Gladstone sheep and beef farmer Anne Atkinson.

Mrs Atkinson said the farming community are concerned about proposals in the Government's Land Access Bill and want to make sure the rural community is consulted before any new laws are passed.

Act MP Gerry Eckhoff and National's rural affairs spokesman Shane Arden are scheduled to attend the meeting, along with Wairarapa representatives of the Labour, National and NZ First parties.

The meeting is to be held at the Masterton Town Hall on November 30, at 3pm.
