Masterton's Aberdeen bar and restaurant has been sold and is to be handed over to its new owners today.
Wellington property investor John Apanowicz already owns the former Masonic lodge that houses the business and decided to buy the restaurant as a going concern, to be
renamed simply The Aberdeen.
Mr Apanowicz said the bar's nine staff had all been  offered new contracts, with only one  electing to leave.
He said the premises would be closed for up to two weeks while a liquor licence was sought, and ``sprucing up'' was done.
He said he was looking at introducing gastro-pub fare as well as an expanded
children's menu.
''We're looking forward to it and being in Wellington we think we know what appeals to restaurant-goers and we believe our menu will be something that will appeal to the
Masterton public. We'll be using local produce and wine and have  begun talking to suppliers,'' he said.
