530,000 reasons not to sleep

Masterton's latest Lotto winners were so nervous they couldn't sleep after learning they had won $530,000 on the Saturday night draw.

According to Write Price Lotto manager Trish Gallon the elderly Masterton couple admitted to a sleepless night after discovering they had won a half share in the $1,064,190-division one first prize they won with a $6 lucky dip ticket.

The couple, who want their identity to remain confidential, were regular customers at Write Price. They had since claimed the prize and would get their money before the end of the week, she said.

Mrs Gallon recalled that Write Price sold a $4 million lotto prize just before Christmas several years ago.

That prize was never claimed.
