Conchords' tickets reduced in price

Flight of the Conchords.

Flight of the Conchords.

The hottest tickets in town for the upcoming Flight of the Conchord's Makoura College fundraiser just got even more affordable.

Already a steal at the previously reported $50, Makoura's most famous son, Jemaine Clement, has announced tickets for the March 31 gig would drop to $40 in an effort to ensure the one-off show is accessible to the entire community.

The duo's "acoustic-digi-bongo-acapella-rap-funk-comedy-folk sound" has won them a devoted international following and is a huge coup for Makoura.

Clement has been a staunch and vocal supporter of the beleaguered school since learning of its threatened closure last year.

The much-coveted tickets to the Grammy-winning, Emmy-nominated Conchords' show to be staged at Masterton's 2000-seater Genesis Recreation Centre will now go on sale on Thursday exclusively from the i-SITE on Dixon Street.

To ensure locals get first dibs all Thursday sales must be in person and over-the-counter at the i-SITE, which has specially extended hours from 9am till 6.30pm on the day to accommodate the influx expected for the high-profile pair.

Thursday sales can only be made using cash, credit, card or Eftpos cheques will be not accepted.

From Friday onwards credit card bookings will be available from 9am-5pm by calling 370-0900.

Reserved seats are unavailable and doors to the venue will be open at 6pm so seats will be allocated on a first-come, first-served basis.

All sales will be limited to 10 tickets per person to combat online scalping and the "Trade Me effect", organiser Rae McKenzie said.

Mrs McKenzie said the Conchords are to be welcomed on to the school with a powhiri in the afternoon before the concert. Makoura students will then be given a super-exclusive treat with a mini-set from the pair in the school hall, which is strictly closed to the public.
